Teaching Philosophy

Singing comes down to space and air. I primarily take a physical approach to singing, focusing on building vocal technique habits that are about conscious support and placement. All elements of music exist on a spectrum; I enjoy getting students to explore the different ends of those spectrums to make healthy decisions on where a proper balance lies for their mechanism and the style of music being sung. Singers live with their instrument, all aspects of life have some effect on the voice. Students will analyze and come to understand their vocal habits in a comprehensive manner that brings together the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of singing and performance.
