Laura Burger

Director of Development

Laura Burger works as the Director of Development for Heartland Sings, Inc. She is a writer and copy editor; a creative soul with a short attention span. She assembles collages, crafts jewelry, photographs everything, and occasionally still does calligraphy. She enjoys shopping at thrift stores, estate sales, and online auctions, favoring the mid-century style. Music of many genres comprises the soundtrack of her life. She has way too many clothes, candles, paper piles, craft supplies, and half-finished projects.

A Fort Wayne native and current resident, Laura has enjoyed extensive travel in the U.S. and in Europe. A university summer program in Florence ignited a love for Italy. Speaking of college, she has a BA in Fine Arts and MA in Liberal Arts, earned 26 years apart, both from Indiana University. She also earned a Certificate in Social Service and a Certificate in Fundraising Management. She is a prolific reader and considers herself a lifelong learner.

Her book, “It Only Takes A Spark: Camp Lutherhaven’s First 25 Years”, was published in 2022. Her parents, Gene and Marty Burger, founded the camp along with many supporters, in Noble County, Indiana, in 1949. Growing up at Camp made her a nature lover. She was born into an incredible family, and raised firmly rooted in the Christian faith. Laura attends Southwest Lutheran Church and is involved in cross cultural missions and youth mentoring.
