Welcome to our 2025-2026 Concert Season!

Join us for Heartland Sings’ Season of Light! The season will explore light in its many forms, and what light provides for humankind. Consisting of four concerts, the season will begin with Beckoning Light, which will ignite the flame of inspiration for the audience, focusing on light as an analogy for a better future, finding light in the darkness, and using light as a guide. This contemplative and inspirational program will feature chorus, piano, string quartet, and guest speaker, Dr. Pascal Losambe.

The season will continue with the 12th annual The Spirit of Christmas: A Light in the Darkness at the Allen County Courthouse, which has become a Fort Wayne holiday tradition. Audiences will hear time-honored carols, original holiday compositions, and enjoy selections that celebrate the arrival of the Light of the World.

In collaboration with Iris Family Support Center, the third concert of Heartland’s season, Illuminate: Shining Light on Child Abuse and Neglect, will open the door for conversation about this devastating problem in our community and give audiences the opportunity to respond. The concert will feature David Lang’s Pulitzer Prize–winning composition “The Little Match Girl Passion.”

The culminating performance of Heartland’s season will invite audiences to fan the spark of inspiration into a lasting flame through a program entitled Enduring Light. The program will feature two large works for chorus, piano, and string orchestra. Ola Gjeilo’s “Sunrise Mass” will tell the story of triumph after struggle, and Elaine Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” will take audiences through “a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion, but as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace.” (Elaine Hagenberg)
