Renee Gonzales is a soprano vocalist, educator, and award-winning actress specializing in musical theatre, jazz, and contemporary styles. A Fort Wayne native, she spent eight years in New York City working as a professional actor and vocalist, performing in tours, regional theatres, cabarets, and jazz clubs.

Renee holds a Bachelor of Science in Musical Theatre from Ball State University and has completed graduate studies in music therapy through Purdue University Fort Wayne. In addition to performing, she is an active vocal instructor and music director for youth theatre productions throughout Northeast Indiana.

Recent stage credits include Sandra Bloom in Big Fish, Rose Gellman in Caroline, or Change, Mother in Ragtime, Meredith Parker in Bat Boy, Jellylorum in Cats, Rita in Lucky Stiff, and Irene Molloy in Hello, Dolly!.

As a concert soloist, Renee has performed with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic in Holiday Pops and Tchaikovsky: Revealed, served as the featured vocalist for the Allen County Bicentennial original song, provided lead vocals for Promenade Park’s Emmy-nominated commercial, and originated vocals on the world premiere recording of Pablo! A New Musical. She is thrilled to be part of the Heartland Sings family!

Teaching Philosophy

As both a performer and voice teacher, I am passionate about developing healthy, expressive, and versatile voices. My technical teaching focuses on expanding agility and range, strengthening breath support, and building stamina between registers. While my background is rooted in musical theatre, I work across genres, emphasizing freedom and consistency throughout the full vocal range. I believe there is a foundational technique that supports healthy singing in any style, and I strive to create a positive environment where students feel accomplished and empowered to pursue their individual goals.
