Experience a powerful weekend with Mexican-born composer Dr. Jorge Sosa as he shares his immigration journey, offers practical tools for young musicians, and helps our community reflect on stories of hope, struggle, and belonging through music.

Dr. Sosa is a New York–based, Mexican-born composer and Professor of Music at Molloy University, widely recognized for imaginative, emotionally charged operas performed across the United States, Mexico, and Europe.

Songs of Immigration | A Journey Begins Recital

Closing out the weekend is a performance at Plymouth Congregational Church that invites audiences into stories of displacement, resilience, and new beginnings, featuring Dr. Sosa’s music and works that echo the immigrant journey.

Presented as part of the Plymouth Music Series, the afternoon includes a pre-service conversation about immigration and the featured works, followed by a 1.5-hour recital and a post-concert reception.

The performance will feature Heartland Sings’ Alejandra Sandoval‑Montañez (Principal Artist, Mezzo‑Soprano) and Seth Allen (Principal Artist, Tenor), joined by Collaborative Pianist Robert Nance.

Time: 2:00pm – 3:30pm
