Dominick Argento's The Andreé Expedition recounts the true story of Swedish explorers Salomon Andreé, Knut Frænkel, and Nils Strindberg — three men who perished in their 1897 quest to reach the North Pole by hydrogen balloon. Drawing from the explorers' real diary and journal entries, this production features tenor Seth Allen and pianist Reggie Berg, alongside costumes, sets, original expedition photographs, and incidental music composed by Reggie Berg. A dramatic, fully staged performance inspired by the film Flight of the Eagle, The Andrée Expedition will take you on a journey unlike anything you’ve seen in a recital.
