Heartland Sings reflects on successful concert season, officially transitions leadership

FORT WAYNE – The future of Heartland Sings is bright.

The organization hosted its Annual Meeting on Aug. 27, 2025, inviting community members to reflect on a successful 28th concert season, celebrate the unveiling of the 2025-2026 season, and to watch the official transition of leadership within Heartland Sings.

Over the year, the organization held a variety of educational and community opportunities for local artists such as Vocal Arts Workshops, Timeless Tunes, Canto de Corazón, and more. Outside of the 28th concert season, Heartland Sings kept the music going in June, July, and August with its Summer Season.

During the 2024-2025 concert season, the organization presented four unique concerts. Peacemakers highlighted works and texts from iconic peacemakers and spiritual voices expressing a shared hope for peace.

Heartland Sings also continued an 11-year tradition with The Spirit of Christmas at the Allen County Courthouse. The program featured beloved, time-honored carols and original holiday compositions.

In March, the organization performed Celtic Landscapes, transporting audiences to the Emerald Isle with beautiful harmonies and drones of bagpipes that evoked the spirit of Celtic tradition.

The organization ended the season by closing a chapter in its history. A Choral Testament honored the 28-year legacy of Maestro Robert Nance as he stepped into his new role of Founder and Artistic Director Emeritus. The Annual Meeting provided a public transition of leadership to President Eric Miller and Artistic Director Natalie Young.

Under their direction, Heartland Sings revealed its 2025-2026 concert season as the Season of Light. The season has four, specially-crafted concerts for October 2025 through May 2026. These include Beckoning Light, The Spirit of Christmas: A Light in the Darkness, Illuminate: Shining Light on Child Abuse & Neglect, and Enduring Light.
